In case you haven’t noticed, we at Stela love our fairy tales. Getting the opportunity to reinvigorate these ancient stories, shaking off the shackles of the Disney renditions and find a new way to tell classic stories, is something that we will always get excited about.
In Lumi White, we move away from the trope of the helpless damsel who needs a strong man to rescue her. Through the romance of Lumi and Francis, both women discover inner strength to help them tackle the enormous obstacles facing them.
In Alyan and the Lamp, we strip away the glitz and glamor of Disney and get to the root of a young boy’s journey of discovery. We saw it as an opportunity to dig deeper into the idea of “be careful what you wish for” by asking, what happens if you don’t yet know what you really want?
Of course, these are just two of the many fairy tales out there that we could explore, and we have at least a few more already in the planning stages.
What would you as an audience like to see next from us? Are there any fairy tale classics that you’d like to see in Stela’s signature style, or that you think are due for a much-needed update? Let us know in the comments!
